ChildBREATHE

About the project

National multicentre paediatric bronchiectasis research in Denmark.

About

There are currently no national Danish data on the occurrence and distribution of bronchiectasis in children. The purpose of this active national research project is to investigate causes, disease mechanisms, and clinical trajectories in children and adolescents with bronchiectasis in Denmark and to establish an associated national research database and biobank.

The project is conducted as a 15-year active research programme from 2025 to 2040 and combines clinical data, patient-reported information, microbiological and immunological analyses, and information from acute exacerbations.

The aim is to describe disease aetiology, immunological and microbial characteristics, and how disease burden, treatment, and quality of life influence the clinical course.

After completion of the active research phase, data and biological material will continue as a national registry and biobank platform for future approved research projects.
